Q. Why is it that a film can collect as huge as Rs 12 crore (PRDP) alone from Mumbai city, whereas 7.5 crore combined from Delhi/U.P Circuit. I mean U.P is a very large state after all and Delhi area combined. Still alone Mumbai city collects more. How?
Ans. Day one for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Mumbai city 3.40 crore, Delhi city 2.65 crore, UP - 4.75 crore are the real figures. Normally Delhi city is bigger than Mumbai city. Still considering how big UP is in terms of size and population the collections are less. This is due to limited multiplex penetration meaning most cities have low collecting single screens and UP has highest entertainment tax rate. If UP has multiplexes in most cities and tax rate as Maharashtra or Delhi it would collect 3-4 times of Mumbai.

Q. Is Prem Ratan Dhan Payo the most expensive film ever at 235 crore, if not what is the budget of the film?
Ans.  That much would be insane for a family social. Still it is over budget and the most costliest of all time. Production cost 100 cr (without Salman Khan fee), prints and advertising 30 crore, satellite with Salman Khan at 50 crore value. Total budget 180 crore.

Q. Why is the same story for all Diwali release in recent years? Unable to encash bumper opening. Be it PRDP, HNY, K3, Ra.One or Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Ans. Diwali period is not as strong as Christmas and Eid after the big holiday. Eid has many follow on holidays while Christmas sees many offices shut till the New Year. Diwali is just one big holiday then part regional holidays. However its not just this but also content of above mentioned films not being like a Bajrangi Bhaijaan or PK. A Bajrangi Bhaijaan would definately have held stronger than above films on Diwali but maybe not as well as it did in Eid period.

Q. Can Prem Ratan Dhan Payo beat Bajrangi Bhaijaan anywhere in India?
Ans. Unlikely. Only chances are Rajasthan, Gujarat and Saurashtra.
