Q. You have said business in 2015 is sure to be less than last year so why are there so many new multiplexes opening and people are obviously watching as ticket rates are going up?

Ans. Tickets will also be on the up as costs rise. There is not much multiplex growth with very few new multiplexes compared to a few years back. Also most of these multiplexes are in tier 2 and 3 cities but the content from the Hindi film industry is mainly for the metros which means they add a noticeable amount only when its a Bajrangi Bhaijaan or Prem Ratan Dhan Payo otherwise not really adding much.

Q. Is the Prem Ratan Dhan Dayo first day actually 39 crore nett or is actual less like Happy New Year came out lower than the first estimates.?

Ans.  Its correct. 39.16 crore nett is a actual figure for the Hindi version. Tamil and Telugu added around 60 lakhs nett.

Q. Bajirao Mastaani has got huge appreciation across the board for its theatrical trailer and a lot of surveys put its trailer at least on par with Dilwale so can it do better?

Ans. Bajirao Mastaani despite its huge budget is still like a regional film so for many parts of India its a word of mouth film irrespective that it looks made on a big scale. Even if Bajirao Mastaani is the best film of the year it will still find it hard to beat Dilwale as it will under perform in many regions. The only way it will beat Dilwale is if Dilwale is poor and that scenario is more like Dilwale beating Dilwale rather than Bajirao Mastaani beating Dilwale.

Q. Thers is a lot of negativity around Prem Ratan Dhan Payo with most saying the films has not been liked, is that true?

Ans. The film will do around 200 crore nett in India and 115 crore plus in Overseas and this is with just one major holiday. Some will put it down to Salman Khan star power but Jai Ho with one major holiday did just a bit more than half the business of PRDP. It is true that the film has not been liked all over India, as for the negativity it is mainly because the film has been liked in places Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and not liked in Mumbai, Delhi or Bangalore so what you see in the press and cyber world is more reflective of the latter.  Films that are liked in the metros like Baby, Badlapur or Piku have positivity while a Prem Ratan Dhan Payo or Gabbar Is Back will have negativity although box office fate of last two is better as box office tends to reflect the whole country rather than a few big metros.
