The Attacks Of 26/11 is based on the 2008 attacks in Mumbai. It is the cinematic interpretation of the tragic events of 26th November, when 9 trained terrorists held Mumbai hostage for 60 hours causing Mumbai under terror.
From 26 to 29 November 2008, a series of 12 co-ordinated shooting and bombing attacks across the Indian city of Mumbai drew worldwide condemnation. By drawing on first-hand accounts, director Ram Gopal Varma aims to present the depiction of the devastating event, exposing one of the darkest moments in India's history.
Nana Patekar portrays real-life figure Rakesh Maria. At the time, Maria was the Joint Commissioner of Police and the man ultimately responsible for interrogating the only surviving perpetrator, Ajmal Kasab. As for Kasab himself, he is portrayed by Sanjeev Jaiswal and real-life survivor Farzad Jehani owner of the Leopold Cafe, one of the first buildings attacked plays himself.
