Mirziya is looking to be a word of mouth film for multiplexes especially North India as the film does not have face value and the theatrical trailer has not had an impact. The face value is not a huge issue as love stories at this level can have newcomers but the theatrical has really let the film down. The story is a simple love story but trailer is nowhere and will just confuse the filmgoers as to what the is in the film and what it is about. The film is probably told in flashbacks which is fine in the film if the content is there as you have the time but in a promo of couple of minutes it is impossible to show without confusing the audience and that is what has happened with this film.
The music is also so so which hurts a love story. The plus is that the film does look visually good but that won't help much as far the initial is concerned. North should be better due to the Mirza Sahibaan love story being more famous in North but even here a good strt is a big ask. The big plus for the film is the fall in collections of M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story as after the weekend it looked like it could take on Mirziya on its eighth day but now thats unlikely to happen. It will still be there but won't be taking the major chunk of the audience as it could have been. Mirziya is from the maker of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag which looked a motion feature film rather than a tele film which many Hindi films look nowadays. Even here it looks like a motion feature film but the problem is it looks very unconventional also and that is what is likely to hurt.
