This week will see the release of Befikre which is directed by Aditya Chopra after Dilwale Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and that is the biggest plus factor of the film. The promos of the film are not showing much with two people just running around in Europe while the music could also have been bigger. Commercially it is not much an issue as on costs against revenue it will be one those rare films which doubles its investment even if box office does not fare too well but that maybe a success as how the trade judges but in real terms a film has run at the box office to succeed and especially as no other director working today has such a record. Three films and three blockbusters be it India theatrical, Overseas theatrical and Television.
On what is seen in promos for Befikre the film could almost be written off but because of the director you have to give the benefit of doubt that there will be something more in the film than what is shown. The promos make it look a empty film without emotions but it was the emotions which worked in a big way for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and that makes it hard to believe that thi film will like be like other road rom-coms that are there in Hindi cinema.
Then there is Ranveer Singh who also has a lot to prove as his major successes have come as historical type of characters and these and biopics don't really push the star status as far as box office office is concerned as how many can you do. So Befikre gives a chance to score with when presented as a more normal / traditional Hindi film hero.
