The Telugu film Khaidi No.150 took an unbelievable bumper opening on Wednesday. The collections were the eighth highest of all time in India and it was the third highest opening ever for a South Indian film. The opening at an all India level was a bit better than Dangal which released a few weeks back. If we look at the top fifteen openers for all Indian films then it is mainly dominated by Hindi films but there are five films from the South in then list. Four Telugu films and the biggest South opener ever Kabali which is a Tamil film. Khaidi No.150 features Telugu superstar who made a few films in Hindi including Pratibandh 1990 (Mumbai HIT), Aaj Ka Goondaraj 1992 (Plus Fare) and The Gentleman 1994 (Flop). Below are the top fifteen opening day grossers in India. The list includes all films released in India and all figures are GROSS (this is because there are different taxes and while Hindi film variance between NETT and GROSS will be 1-3%, it is much more when compared with South films due to lower taxes).
