Commando 2 had a low start as it opened to 10-15% at multiplexes and 30-35% at single screens. The opening at multiplexes is the same as Rangoon last week but it has just 40-45% of the shows of that film. The film has opened better at single screens on the first show but it has to be doing better for its show up in the overall collections. The film is going to depend on business outside the big multiplexes. Its about the mid level and small multiplexes and single screens but again its a sequel film where the first does not hold much value as far as the public is concerned.
Commando released in 2013 had grossed around 3.50 crore nett and Commando 2 will need an improvement in collections in the evening to beat that total as its opening suggests a lower number. The Hollywood film Logan has opened better than Commando at most multiplexes registering a 25% plus occupancy on average. It could end up with similar collections to Commando or even better as this film could pick up more in the evening as is for the metro audience.
There were also films like Luv Shuv Pyar Vyar and Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai released and it was business as usual with no collections. The latter has even been released in Overseas and only God knows why as even the print cost will not be recovered forget the publicity.
