Phillauri had a low weekend grossing around 14 crore nett and the trend over the weekend was also not very strong with Sunday having very limited growth with 5.25-5.50 crore nett business despite the film being families. The growth on Sunday was just 10-15%. The film has done better comparatively in East Punjab due to the presence of Diljit Dosanjh but even there the film has not really worked as the collections are less than what a Punjabi Diljit Dosanjh film would do if it was not liked. This is despite Phillauri being a Hindi film which gets the big cities of Haryana in play like Gurgaon, Faridabad and Rohtak which give minimal contribution for a Punjabi film though some of this is negated by the tax free status of Punjabi films in Punjab.
The film probably could have gone through on big business in the North as its not a 50 or 75 crore film but obviously biggest plus of the film Diljit Dosanjh has not been used properly or less by the filmmakers. The audience probably expected more and that is why collections in East Punjab have hardly grown and if a Punjab based film is not going to trend strongly in Punjab then its hardly going to survive in the long run. The business of Phillauri over its first weekend is as follows.
Friday - 3,75,00,000
Saturday - 4,75,00,000
Sunday - 5,50,00,000
TOTAL - 14,00,00,000
