Raabta took a very poor of 10-15% and is very similar to another R film which was a disaster, Rangoon. It could turn out be lower than Rangoon if it keeps on going at this rate. The hope will be the film will trend better but it looked a very poor film from the promos so the actual film will have to surprise big time to have any sort of trend. The reincarnation theme has huge potential in Hindi cinema especially today as its so rare but this film had a promo which could never connect with the Indian audience. Basically the director has made an urban reincarnation film which pretty crazy. The small plus for Raabta is that it has opened better than The Mummy but that is not the bigger picture.
The Mummy has opened very poorly at 10-15% but it is on less volume than Raabta which will mean lower collections. The film has been heavily affected by an A certificate in India which has probably not happened anywhere else in the world for this adventure film. The film would have held appeal with the families but not with an A certificate.
The other release Behen Hogi Teri is a non starter as expected. If the Raabta promos were bad, this film was at another lower level and this will reflect in collections. The film was promoted but still has managed to get shows cancelled on the first morning.
