Tubelight has taken the second highest opening day of the year at a little under 21 crore nett but the collections are almost 50% less than Bahubali - The Conclusion. It has edged past Raees but that film released on 3400 screens compared to 4400 of Tubelight. The real value is around 25 crore nett as East Punjab is 2.78 crore which has no pre Eid affect. This means the film has lost around 4 crore nett on day one.
The film has under performed in West Bengal, Gujarat and South. This could be as these areas have a huge muslim audience but places like Nizam / Andhra and Gujarat could also be beacause they are mass circuits and with promos not having the action and songs a chunk of the audience finds the film less interesting. Below are the top ten highest opening days of the year.
1. Bahubali 2 - The Conclusion - 40,73,00,000
