This week will see a clash between Simran (Kangana Ranaut) and Lucknow Central (Farhan Akhtar). Kangana Ranuat is probably a mini star after the success of the Tanu Weds Manu films while Farhan Akhtar has yet to establish though Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was a big hit it was more to do with the acceptance of the character of Milkha rather than the actor being accepted. The other Farhan Akhtar films pretty much bear testimony to that. The promotional campaign of Simran by the makers has been to delve on the  the various controversies of the lead heroine Kangana Ranaut has been involved in over the last few years. This sort of stuff helps to get the media excited and lots of media coverage but the audience will not buy it.

This will probably be evident when Simran opens as the audience is only coming for what they see in the promos and that is nothing much with Simran and this campaign of Simran which has been everything but about the film is not going to help much. Sadly its the wrong way to promote a film as you are not actually promoting the film and on top it has a director who has made films like Aligarh, Citylights and Shahid so a good film does look out of the question unless the director surpasses his previous works by leaps and bounds.

Lucknow Central is a film similar to Qaidi Band released a few weeks back and with cinema today being about relatabilty its going to be tough for a film about prisioners to be relatabale to the audience. As both films really dont have much going for them it will probably come down to face value initially. Although Kangana Ranaut has limited face value its probably more than Farhan Akhtar and this could give the initial edge to Simran though with such low collections expected you cant really put any bets on it.
