Golmaal Again recorded the ninth highest opening weekend of all time and is the highest for an Ajay Devgn starrer and also for a Rohit Shetty directed film just edging out Chennai Express. The film is not the highest weekend for a Diwali release with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) and Happy New Year (2014) doing better but that is probably because they were solo releases and Golmaal Again had competition from Secret Superstar which itself had a 30 crore nett weekend.
It is the first time this year that a film outside Bahubali - The Conclusion is being compared with all time grossers rather than the top yearly ones and that pretty much signals how far the opening weekend of other films this year. Below are the top ten opening weekends of all time. (All collections for Hindi language only and three days only))
