The comedy genre has ruled at the box office this year so far with Golmaal Again and Judwaa 2 which are masala films but tilt towards comedy especially the former. Even the third highest grosser Toilet Ek Prem Katha is essentially drama but it also has a tilt towards comedy. Golmaal Again is standing far above the others though the list does not include Bahubali - The Conclusion which is at an altogether different level. 

Its likely the comedy genre will not be at top of the pile by the end of they year with Padmavati and Tiger Zinda Hai to come.
