Born in an orphanage Yeshwant lives a middle-class lifestyle in Mumbai, India along with his wife, Ragini. He works as a Police Inspector while Ragini is an I.A.S. student. Yeshwant's honesty and diligence only gets him suspended with half-pay, and he has his lawyer friend, Vikram, assist him. Even while the Enquiry Commission is investigating his conduct, he is arrested by Inspector Joshi for killing a man, which gets him 10 years in prison. Vikram, however, appeals and a higher court overturns this conviction.
An embittered Yeshwant returns to work only to find that his wife, now the Deputy Collector, is having a much-publicized affair with her body-guard, Police Inspector John Frank, who was her fellow collegian. Distracted from chasing criminals, Yeshwant has only one objective now, confront Ragini and kill John Frank by hook or by crook, while his opponents, which include Salim Sheikh and the State Chief Minister Virendra Deshmukh, are busy plotting his demise.
