Shankar Dayal is very loving and has a soft corner for his two brothers Shakti and Prem. He is so selfless towards them that he mortgaged his property in order to finance their education in the city but in the city, the two brothers befriend an underworld criminal named Dhabla and cross the threshold into a world of illegal activities and end up swindling Dhabla himself.
Dhabla's partner seeks revenge and Shakti murders him. Shankar witnesses this and takes the blame and surrenders to law. He is sentenced to prison for life and leaves his wife, Parvati and their newborn son to fend for themselves. After several years he is let out of prison for good behaviour. He returns home only to find that his brothers have sold his house, his dad has passed away and his wife and child are missing.
He then locates his wife in Bombay and she tells him that their child was killed because of Prem. Angered beyond bounds, he sets out to kill Prem but Prem's wife pleads with him for mercy. Now, after all these years of much sacrifice for his siblings, Shankar is again bound to make even more sacrifices and must also to rescue them from Dhabla's wrath, which may cost him his life.
