Noor had a very poor opening across India with occupancy at around 10%. The opening is lower than last weeks Begum Jaan and its unlikely to catch that film as it was a holiday last Friday which results in better collections through the day.
The film had very poor promos and the content of film looked as it had nothing much in it from the promos. It has to be a case of the film being much much better than the promos if it is to survive but that is tough as generally makers put the best foot forward in promos. The other release Maatr is worse than Noor while films like Ek Rani Aisi Bhi Thi and Ajab Singh ki Gazab Kahaani hardly have a release. If Noor does not show a good upturn it may well be that Fast & Furious 8 may still lead the box office in its second week. The comparison between Begum Jaan and Noor in the morning shows in some key cities is as follows.
Mumbai (30 Cinemas)
Begum Jaan - 1,140 admits
