The craze of Bahubali 2 is continuing but its back to business for the film industry with the staple diet this week with Meri Pyaari Bindu and Sarkar 3. The third release Hindi Medium had to postpone its release as there would have been a screen problem with the holdover Bahubali 2 likely to hold 2 screens. If our industry learns anything from Bahubali 2 then it will be a year or year and a half that this learning will be seen in our content but for the time being will be a similar story to what has been seen in the last 3-4 years.

Meri Pyaari Bindu is a rom com which can hold some appeal for the 5 big cities across India but the hero is a huge liability and the film could get such a low opening thats it hard to recover from. A Dum Laga Ke Haisha opened at 1.12 crore nett and managed to recover and get to 30 crore nett due to content but business patterns today are different and that is a very unlikely scenario today. Hawaizaada was 62 lakhs and could not recover at all. Meri Pyaari Bindu has more initial appeal than the films above as there is more for the youth and Parineeti Chopra who has more face value than the actresses in films like Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Hawaizaada. When the heroine has to carry the hero in a film then normally then it is tough.

Sarkar 3 is just passe. This sort of cinema was passe for most of the country when the same director made films like Sarkar 1, Company and Satya and today it is even more pointless. The problem with all these films was that they were duds outside Mumbai / Maharashta and South India then and today even these markets and not keen on this cinema which gives the likes of Sarkar 3 very little hope at the box office. We tend to get the bad imports, there is a S.S Rajamouli there who has never made an outright Hindi film and may never well but our import from the Telugu film industry Ram Gopal Verma is a flop machine with 20 flops as director and the the few that have done well were limited to Mumbai / South. Even a Rangeela with Aamir Khan tanks in places like UP, Punjab, Bihar and West Bengal.
