Mom  had a low opening of 3 crore nett apprx in Hindi though these numbers are better than English Vinglish which opened in the 2.25 crore nett range in 2012. Hindi Medium released in May had taken an opening of 2.50 crore but managed to pick up well and eventually score at the box office. The opening of Mom is actually much better than Hindi Medium as that had a tax exemption in Maharashtra from day one so its gross figures are less at 3.20 crore against the 4 crore of Mom.

The film will be hoping to have the same trajectory of Hindi Medium or something close to it but tax exemptions and lesser connect in the North will probably come in the way. The film should grow well on Saturday but unless the growth is phenomenal it will remain a low weekend and then it will be about the film coming into its own in the weekdays.

Guest Iin London had a poor opening day of 1.25 crore nett apprx though in UP and Bihar it managed to score above Mom due to a wider release. Its a tough ask to do much from this low number, it should show some growth but will be less than Mom and that wont be good enough. Both the Hindi films (Guest Iin London, Mom) combined grossed around 3,75 crore nett compared to the 6.50 crore nett of Spiderman - Homecoming
