This week will see the release of Mubarakan and the film is very dependent on the opening. This is the case for most films but more so for Mubarakan as it has seven days till Jab Harry Met Sejal which will be followed by Toilet Ek Prem Katha. So basically in reality Mubarakan really only has seven days to do its business as even if the film sustains the it is going to struggle post the first week. Despite being a family film which tend to need time this film will not get time. The last Arjun Kapoor starrer Half Girlfriend opened pretty well at 9.25 crore nett but it was a love story which was crucial as younger stars open better with love stories.   

Mubarakan is a bigger film than Half Girlfriend but this genre of a family comedy probably also requires a more established star to open. Last week we had Munna Micheal depending on Mumbai circuit and although that circuit was best it did not perform as well it should have. This week Mubarakan is depending on the other big area which is North India. This is what also makes it slightly difficult to judge the start as on the look it should take good starts in Delhi city and East Punjab but then these areas also tend to go for big cast films so its remains to be seen which way it will fall on the day. A Singh Is Kinng set all time box office record due to huge out performance in Delhi and Punjab but on the other side A Flying Jatt had normal ratios and tanked on day one.

Here the film does not have an Akshay Kumar but it also does not look as bad A Flying Jatt. A 1.25 crore nett number in East Punjab and Delhi / Noida will be a must tomorrow as if the target area does not open and then on top just one week before the big films it will be a huge struggle.
