Tumhari Sulu had a low first day as it grossed in the 2.50-2.75 crore nett range. The film had that normal Friday trend which saw a little pick up of collections in the evening as the morning was suggesting an opening day of 2-2.25 crore nett.
The film has opened better than the likes of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Hindi medium and Bareilly Ki Barfi but is quite a bit less than Begum Jaan which was the last release of Vidya Balan which did not do well. In terms of content films released this year then the film stands in fifth place. The openings for content films released this year and for films costing under 30 crore nett are as follows.
1. Phillauri - 3.86 crore
2. Ittefaq - 3.69 crore
3. Begum Jaan - 3.64 crore
4. Ok Jaanu - 3.54 crore
5. Tumhari Sullu - 2.65 crore apprx
6. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan - 2.64 crore
7. Hindi medium - 2.50 crore
8. Simran - 2.43 crore
9. Bareilly Ki Barfi - 2.17 crore
10. Poster Boys - 1.70 crore
The film has fared best in Mumbai and as far as circuit ratios go the film is very similar to Ittefaq released a few weeks back though at low levels. The film will grow on Saturday but that has started to become the norm so it will be down to weekday business holding up very well.
