Dhadak opened pretty well with occupancy of 30-35% which is a little better than Raazi and it also a wider release. This is because Dhadak has more in it for the youth compared to a Raazi. On the other side as the film is aimed more towards the youth the evening / night collections may not be as strong as Raazi.
The opening is pretty good all over with East Punjab and Mysore being the lags. Mysore does not open well for most films as its a Saturday circuit while East Punjab and most of Delhi will not come initially for a new cast film unless its action and visually grand. Despite some circuits being low the film has a good chance to beat the highest opening day numbers of a newcomer film which is 7.50 crore nett apprx of Student Of The Year.
On the other side the film is not a Bobby, Love Story, Betaab, Barsaat or Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai where newcomer films took bumper / excellent openings but those days are probably over unless a producer has the conviction to make 100 crore plus budget film with newcomers.
The top ten openings in 2018 in terms of occupancy in morning shows are as follows
