Badhaai  Ho took a good opening day of around 7.25-7.50 crore nett as it took advantage of the holiday for Dusshera. This holiday factor has enabled the film to collect more than other sleeeper HITS of the year like Raazi and Stree on the first day.

It was crucially a holiday in Maharashtra and Gujarat as this large collecting area may have under performed if it was not a holiday. Delhi NCR and East Punjab are the best areas if we take fair value into account and factor out the holiday. Its a holiday in Delhi and Punjab on Friday which will mean a healthy jump for the film in these markets. It may not be the same at places where the holiday was on Thursday and the best bet for these markets will be to hold at the same level of Thursday.

Infact the film just needs to hold up over the next four days and will emerge with a good weekend. Normally these types need growth to go anywhere at the box office. Delhi Punjab look a sure shot for this and its really about how the other circuits can perform which will determine how far this film go..

Namaste England has turned out to be bit of a shocker as it collects in the 1.50-1.75 crore nett range. The film did have release issues as the distributors of the film tried to releaes the film in MP single screens. This did not go down with the multiplex chains who threatened not to play the film in their properties if it released in MP single screens. There is a strike on at the moment in MP.

There was a standoff for a couple of days but eventually the multiplexes chains got there way and the film did not release in MP single screens but some damage had been done to the film as it had no advance and Badhaai Ho took up the best screens and timings. A clean proper release would not have changed the fate of the film but at least collections would not have been this low.

There is little chance that the film can go anywhere from this start and it will just have struggle on at the box office.
