Kesari has recorded the highest opening day of the year as it crosses the 20 crore nett mark. The collections can go to 21-22 crore nett also but that will depend on how the mass centers have played out as business on Holi is up and down with low collections in the morning and high in the evening but a lot depends on how many shows are played in the B and C centres.

Holi is like a half national holiday with the other half of the day behaving worse than pre Diwali in many parts. Kesari has big numbers in North which is expected but Mumbai has also done well especially Gujarat / Saurashtra which may well top 2 crore nett on day one. The collections in Delhi / NCR and East Punjab are excellent and even UP looks like hitting 1.50 crore nett which is huge considering that state is practically shut in the morning.

The fair value of the opening day will probably be known over the weekend as the day after Holi is also up and down depending on the circuit. The opening will be the second best ever for an Akshay kumar starrer after gold which released on a national holiday and collected a little under 24 crore nett.
