Kesari did very well on day one with 21 crore nett apprx on its first day which is the highest first day collection of the year and the second highest opening day for an Akshay Kumar starrer after Gold which opened on a national holiday. The film opened in the afternoon at many places as it was Holi and did huge occupancy as it worked like a national holiday. But then it was the opposite at some places which were affected by Holi especially the mass centres.

The best collections for the film have come in Gujarat / Saurashtra which has recorded the best collections in the last fifteen months after Sanju. The business in this belt is actually better than East Punjab. Both circuits have a similar ratio and East Punjab will collect around 2.75 crore nett while Gujarat / Saurashtra will be over 3 crore nett. 

The collections in CPCI, Rajasthan, UP and Bihar have been affected by Holi as single screens performed very few screenings. A circuit like Bihar has probably lost 50-75 lakhs nett as collections look only 15-20 lakh in this circuit. The business will go up on in some places on Friday while the stronger areas will drop as its a working day. It will be Sunday that the film will settle as Holi factor is totally out of the way and the family audience should be out in a big way. The huge plus for the film is the big numbers in Mumbai circuit on day one as it is a North based film.
