Super 30 is set to cross 140 crore nett which is not a big number today but for this film it is very good total and there has to be some Hrithik Roshan factor for the film to go this far. The film is basically a metro film like Gully Boy but this film did not have any support from music, a heroine and a very off beat look and on top no holiday to boost and yet the numbers have come.
The difference between Gully Boy and Super 30 is places like Rajasthan, MP, Gujarat and Bihar which will give Super 30 a 6-8% higher all India number than Gully Boy without a technical holiday. It can be said its due to the film being more earthy or even tax exemptions helping (with GST the tickets get cheaper by a minimal amount so its not the sort of affect that entertainment tax exemption used to have) but there has to be some credit to Hrithik Roshan who has face value in these markets and one of the very few heroes with face value in the Hindi belt.

Hrithik Roshan was the closest competition to Shahrukh Khan for most part of the 2000-2010 decade and it looked like mega stardom was there was the taking with Dhoom 2 and Krrish when he comfortably outscored all the Khans in 2006 but there was no consolidation and no films in the Krrish and Dhoom 2 zone which meant Salman Khan took up the vacant action hero spot despite being known previously as romantic or comic actor. The action zone had struggled in the early 2000's as box office was about big cities and overseas with prints reaching B and C centres weeks after release as distributors knew if they came in week one then many centers would not cover print costs if the film did not work. By the time they reached smaller cities, video had already penetrated and the business was not there. The UFO phenomena got going around the time of Krrish release and it was just the beginning. The UFO system meant no physical prints costs and this bought costs down enabling release across the country on day one with huge volume and within a few years action films took off again.
Action was back but the hero who could have benefited the most had films like Jodha Akbar, Kites Guzaarish and Zindagi Na Meligi Dobaara and all these came in a line post Krrish and Dhoom 2 so they were bound to take the shine of potentially a huge star. Not only were the films not upto the mark but they were the type of films a potential superstar should not be seen in.
Not that Super 30 is a superstar film but it has got pretty good numbers which show the potential of Hrithik Roshan in a good film in the right zone. If this film can do 140 crore nett plus then the 200 crore nett mark can come eyes closed and far higher benchmarks are possible. When you have back to back blockbuster films like Krrish and Dhoom 3 where you are portrayed like a hero should then you build a mass following and this following remains with time and even a film like Super 30 manages to get some respectable results in mass circuits even though the content is not for them.
There is still time on the side of Hrithik Roshan and with the correct films he could give the biggest stars today a run for there money and even surpass them like he did in 2006. Basically the numbers of Hrithik Roshan films in the past few years are not in accordance to his stardom and with right type of films this could all change.
