Commando 3 had a low start of around 10% with the mass markets being better but they are short of Marjaavaan which was a film in a similar zone. Marjaavaan had a HIT song and a love story and a better cast which makes the difference.

There have been two films in this franchise before and they also pretty much opened in a similar zone but there was improvement from the first film to the second film but that improvement does not look like coming for this one unless evening shows show a big hump. This is unlikely as these type of action films for mass centres do not improve much in the evening. The collections of the first two Commando films are as follows.

Commando (2013) - 3,43,00,000

Commando 2 (2017) - 4,51,00,000

This film has opened at a level where it may be able to beat the first film but the second one seems to be out of reach at the moment. These films have done well post release on television and there is a good revenue for this one also from digital and satellite and on top a rebate from the United Kingdom which will mean it makes money. This is the reason why there has been three films made in the franchise despite none of them doing well theatrically.

Hotel Mumbai is a foreign film which has also been dubbed in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil and will have some reasonable collections in the big multiplexes of Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore but will hardly find an audience outside the big multiplexes of these metros.
