The talk in India may be be about OTT even though all films except Dil Bechara have turned out to be disasters and in North America there are films going to PVOD but the box office is showing signs of life. There have been some very good numbers in South Korea over the last 4-6 weeks and now Spain which was hit hard by the pandemic sees the audience coming back to the theatres.

The local Spanish film Padre No Hay Mas Que Uno 2 ( Father There Is Only One 2) releasead at the end of July is doing extremely well despite many cinemas shut and capacity restrictions on all cinemas which are open. The film is a sequel to Padre No Hat Mas Que Uno which opened last year and proved to be a huge HIT in Spain. The sequel has grossed around $5.5 million till date while the first film released last year had grossed $5.1 million in the same number of days. 

This is 8% better with less cinemas on restricted capacity and in a country which is coming off one of the strictest lock downs anywhere in the world. The situation with covid 19 is not the best for cinema viewing but the audiences are still coming where there is good content showing and there is huge pent up demand and this thing of watching movies at home is more talk rather than facts talking.

The pandemic hit Spain hard as the health system struggled to cope in April and May and there was fear  no one would even turn up at the cinemas but this film has proved otherwise. Padre No Hay Mas Que Uno 2 is a family drama and is on course to beat the final numbers of its first chapter and this is despite the pending situation with Covid 19 which gives hope to cinemas all over the world.
