Tenet has opened well with IMAX screenings set to lead the way. The film had an impressive advance last week when counters opened though the weekdays did not see the sort of ticket sales that were seen when counters opened. 

The opening is best in Mumbai and Bangalore and its the first time these two cities have seen some crowds at cinemas after a long time. The film notched up advance sales of around 50 lakhs nett for the first day and over 1.25 crore nett in total which is a good response.

Normally this sort of advance would mean a comfortable 2 crore nett plus day but the problem is that there may not be the same on the audience like before due to the pandemic. A larger chunk of the interested audience may have bought in advance especially for IMAX.

No matter where the film lands up finally on day one it the first green shoot the box office has seen since March and there will be some footfalls over the weekend. Tenet has seen a release in most countries across the world which means the film is available online on torrent sites so the response is a good result.
