The release schedule of major Hindi releases for 2021 is more or less complete. There will smaller films which will be come as well and there will be some changes as Hollywood finalize their release dates. There is at least one big film practically every month. 

 

 

The release date of Sooryavanshi is an expected one as the terms of release have not been finalised. The exhibitors have given the final offers and its up to the makers to agree and if they want to release in theatres they will have to agree and officially announce the release date very soon.

 

 

Some of these films releasing in cinemas would have been digital premieres but the streaming giants have issues of their own and now want films which have been passed by the censor board. This is because much of their original content has faced problems with court cases lodged against the content which then has had to be modified. Content being passed by the censors would mean less of these problems. This has led to all films go for the theatrical release.

 

 

The other major concern is a rise in covid19 cases especially in Maharashtra. There were rumours doing the rounds today that cinemas in Mumbai are set to close but they were not true and Mumbai cinemas will remain OPEN. There are a couple of weeks left till Roohi and hopefully the covid19 trajectory will not get any worse and films dont get delayed. Punjab is seeing a wrong trend with 100% occupancy going down to 50% from March onward and this is the sort of trend the industry does not want to see.

 

 

The release schedule for the next year or so is as follows. The films from the South will be either bilingual or dubbed films.
