Godzilla vs Kong shows the market position in various cities with the pandemic right now. The film has got a similar release in the metros (as generally most properties are open which is not the case with smaller cities) to what it would have had before the pandemic but there are huge differences in the performance of the metros. Saturday is best day for for business in the metros and Godzilla has done extraordinary well in some of them considering the situation.

Looking at the initial numbers of Godzilla vs Kong it looks a 75-100 crore nett film in pre covid times and that means the film would have been doing around 60% plus occupancy in Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai and around 50% plus in Mumbai on its first Saturday. Mumbai occupancy is generally less due to huge spare capacity in the city.

The film is below the normal occupancy levels in all the metros but Hyderabad is pretty close to normal followed by Chennai while Bangalore is doing less than half of what it should be with Delhi NCR and Mumbai in the doldrums with occupancy around one quarter of what it should be. Below was the occupancy in the metros on Saturday with the cinemas tracked in brackets.
