The top ten opening days post the pandemic have all come from the South with the Pawan Kalyan starrer Vakeel Saab released this week leading the pack. There are four Telugu films and three each from the Kannada and Tamil film industries.

Sadly there are no Hindi films as the covid19 rules were relaxed more slowly in the Hindi states and just as the bigger releases were getting ready to come the second covid 19 wave came which has pushed the films to later dates. Roohi remains the best with 2.73 crore nett while the Hollywood release Godzilla Vs Kong comes just outside the top ten in 11th position.

The main battle is between Master and Vakeel Saab with the latter coming out on top. Master released in January when it was a 50% occupancy rule though in Tamil Nadu the exhibitors allowed 100% occupancy at many centres. Vakeel Saab has 100% occupancy in Nizam / Andhra where most of the collections have come from though there have been reports of some places limiting shows and some ticket pricing issues. It also has to be noted that Vakeel Saab is a one language film while Master had three (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi) though one of the Hindi did not release on day one.

Vakeel Saab collected 34 crore nett in Nizam / Andhra and 3.50 crore nett in the rest of India. Both Vakeel Saab and Master films have extraordinary numbers considering the situation be it now or in January. The top ten opening day nett collections across India post the pandemic are as follows. In brackets are the respective industries which produced these films.
