The second major release post cinemas being open across India Bunty aur Babli 2 had a slow start of around 10-15% with collections being slightly better in Delhi NCR and bigger cities of East Punjab. This was because of it Guru Nanak Jayanti and this is a major holiday in the North.

The collections in the North were just a bit better in the morning but the gap will get wider as the day progresses and the holiday factor actually comes into play. There will some decent figures in Delhi / UP for the film but its first day will depend on where Mumbai circuit lands.

Here Sooryavanshi may still be first choice and it will probably have better collections in Mumbai circuit. Gujarat / Saurashtra could be two or even three times better for Sooryavanshi.

The last Rani Mukherjee starrer Mardaani 2 opened at around 3.75 crore nett aided by strong numbers in Kolkatta. Rani Mukherjee still has a good draw in Kolkatta as can be seen by her last few films but this film is more of an ensemble cast and the Rani Mukherjee factor may not help at the level of a Mardaani 2 or a Hichki in Kolkata. On top the content is very much for North India which makes it tough for Kolkata in the long run.

Bunty Aur Babli opened with aroudn 1800 screens on 1200 sites. This is the third biggest release post the pandemic after Sooryavanshi and Mumbai Saga. The film opened in UAE a day early on Thursday and did around $80k which is a fair total and should have a decent weekend in Gulf.
