Spiderman - No Way Home has taken a huge 60-70% start across India and it is the biggest opening seen post the pandemic across India.  The advance was crazy and the film was set for this type of huge opening. as many shows were full in advance. This is what is called a genuine PAN India film.

Sooryavanshi released on a national holiday on Diwali and this film has taken a better opening than that film at all the major cities which include Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Noida, Gurgaon and Chandigarh. We are not including the likes of Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai as there it was a foregone conclusion that it would beat Sooryavanshi.  

The numbers of Spiderman - No Way Home in the Hindi circuits may not reach the levels of Sooryavanshi as Sooryavanshi was a national  holiday and in smaller cities it will not do as much as Sooryavanshi but it is pretty much locked that the business from South will easily take it past the Sooryavanshi number. Still Spiderman - No Way Home can challenge some of the Sooryavanshi numbers in our circuits like maybe a West Bengal and maybe even Delhi / UP and East Punjab if bigger centres go into overdrive in the evening. This would be a huge achievement by the film.

South India looks simply insane for the film and if sales in current go like normal the southern circuits will be recording huge numbers. There is the craze of Pushpa in Andhra but day one is free for Spiderman as Pushpa releases a day later. The film is the biggest release ever for a Hollywood film and the final count could hit 3000 screens which would be a first for Hollywood.

There was the screen issue this week as Spiderman booked theatres and its an overloaded period over Christmas but business is never about screens but footfalls and more so now when the audience is limited. All the films will be easily co exist over the Xmas and New Year period and its about getting an audience and the rest willl takes care of itself because on no day from next Friday onward will you be expecting combined totals of 40-50 crore that screens become an issue. Also it only takes 1000 screens to get 15 crore in the bag if you really have the audience.

It was being said the lacklustre business over the past few weeks was down to the Omicron covid19 strain but Spiderman - No Way Home has put an end to that crazy theory but that is not to say it wont be a threat in time. Spiderman - No Way Home has had a huge advance across the world but the virus is going to affect the business as countries like UK are seeing cancellations in not just cinema tickets but other social events also as public physch changes. This will probably be the case in Europe and US also so the numbers will still be huge across the world initially but they would have been even higher without this Omicron strain.
