Heropanti 2 and Runway 34 opened today and are the Eid attractions but the openings were nothing like they should be and that is taking into account it is the last Friday before Eid. Despite this the opening of both films should have been much much better. The crowds are just not coming initially when they feel the content will not offer entertainment. 

Heropanti 2 has taken the better start of the two but its a low opening overall and an opening here was a must as its an action film which are frontloaded. There were block bookings at multiplexes prior to release but whatever opening has come on the day it is in mass centres though its much less than one would expect for a Tiger Shroff action film.

The film had a decent action trailer which was released a week or so before the release but the initial trailer and music probably damaged the film in terms of an opening. It is the type of film which can hold more appeal for the mass muslim centres so it could have got decent collections over the Eid period but here Eid is so far away and to get that crowd now it needs public reports to be on side. 

Runway 34 had a very low opening as it opened to lower collections than last weeks Jersey and this is probably because it went unnoticed. Many may have even seen it as a film coming on OTT due to the look. Runway 34 is a remake of 2012 Hollywood film Flight (released in India in 2013) but this again shows how sensibilities of the film industry are very different from the audience. Only industry people will see Flight as a good film and worth a remake while the public will hardly care for a film like Flight. Anybody could have made this film with any cast but when the problem is the genre then there is not much hope.

The openings of these two films will be among the lowest for Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff if not the lowest and its looking a very dull Eid. The only hope will be that collections improve over the Eid holidays but there you need reports on your side and if they are not there then KGF 2 will be the one that will collect best over Eid holidays..
