Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had the second highest opening day post the pandemic for original Hindi films behind Sooryavanshi which was released on the big national holiday on Diwali. The difference between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and the other films around it is that it is a smaller film. Sooryavanshi was a big budget Akshay Kumar film directed by Rohit Shetty, Bachchan Pandey was an Akshay Kumar starrer on Holi and 83 was a big budget film.

It is the opening day figures against a film costing around 75-80 crore on production without PA and interest costs that is the big news for the film industry as it shows numbers can still come for films which are not huge scale and big budget and with the biggest stars. Going forward the opening day is going to be an even important factor than before the pandemic as its going to be much harder to generate the Saturday growth that was happening before.

Here with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 even if double digits happened it would have been a good result and this has gone well past which is fantastic for the film industry. This does not mean that films will start opening better over the next six months or so as it is on a film to basis basis and there are still likely to be shockers over the next few months. But what Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 shows is that if the content is correct there is no way that the audience will NOT come to the theatres irrespective of the scale of the film.
