Ek Villain Returns did well on its first day as it collected around 6.75 crore nett as the audiences came out in reasonable numbers in most pockets. The performance was lacklustre in the premium multiplexes but other multiplexes which have lower pricing generally did well as youth formed most of the audience.

The opening day numbers have come despite the film not having a big cast but the content holds some appeal for youth and mass and the music was also decent so this makes the industry much more upbeat this week as when a film like this can put up these numbers then surely the correct content targeted at youth and mass can put up far higher numbers.

The film has performed best in UP, Gujarat, Bihar and Nizam / Andhra but there were mass circuirs like Rajasthan and CI which could have got better numbers and it is actually surprising to see numbers here on the lower side considering other mass pockets fared well. The UP collections have taken Delhi / UP to a very healthy number of 1.75 crore nett as now after Gujarat it is this area where the audiences are coming out as the last month or so has seen out performance for practically nearly all the films.

As the film had much of its business coming from outside the premium multiplexes and lower ticket pricing in general the footfalls of Ek Villain 2 on the first day were pretty much in the range of a bigger film like Jugjugg Jeeyo.

It remains to be seen where this film goes but the industry is generally in an upbeat mood this Friday compared to the last few as the numbers of this film are above its face value considering how many bigger cast and bigger films have opened.

The dubbed South film Vikrant Rona continued to be very dull in Hindi and has also seen a huge drop in collections in Karnataka also which is the main market for the film.
