The new release of the week Unchaai which mainly features veteran actors has taken a nice little advance as it sells over 20k tickets for the weekend at national multiplex chains (PVR, Inox, Cinepolis) and 12k of these 20k are for the first day.

The advances here are much superior to films like Phone Bhoot, Goodbye, Anek, HIt, Badhaai Do etc and they are coming on a very restricted release of under 500 screens and even in these screens there will hardly be a screen having more than 4 shows a day. The film is having just 1500 shows across the country.

The Rajshri's have done this many times before in history with these type of restricted releases which break out and the attempt is there again. There may not be huge numbers on day one due to the limited release but occupancy of the film will be higher than many big films on day one and then you never know the film can surprise if the content is good.

The film is directed by Sooraj Barjatya who has some insane historic blockbusters behind him like Maine Pyaar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun.  Basically the likes of which not been seen in recent history so despite the film having nothing much for a initial which is a must for the day it may well have some momentum due to these decent advances.

The big film of the week is Black Panther - Wakanda Forever which has an excellent advance of around 14-15 crore nett for the weekend and 6-7 crore nett for the first day but the way Unchaain is being released it can hold its own.
