There were many new Hindi releases this week with three films (Maarrich, Salaam Venky, Vadh) getting reasonable number of screens but neither could collect much at the box office. Salaam Venky was the best of the lot as it collected around 20 lakhs nett. This film had Kajol who is a recognisable face while other two films featured lesser known faces and character artistes.

The next best was Vadh which collected around 10 lakhs nett while Maarrich was probably in the 5-6 lakh nett range. These sort of collections do not leave these films much chances although that was probably known before release.

The holdover film An Action Hero which has done very poorly is still doing better than these new releases as it picked up around 25 lakhs nett on its second Friday though this is a very low collections. The film has collected 8.50 crore nett in eight days. The lifetime business of the film will just about get over the 10 crore nett mark.

Bhediya collected around 75 lakhs nett on its third Friday so is basically trending with 65% weekly drops though that will change when the competition comes next week. The film saw huge growth on Saturday last week so it should be the same this week.

The film has now collections over the 51 crore nett mark and lifetime is looking to cross the 55 crore nett mark though 60 crore nett will be hard due to the release of Avatar and Cirkus over the next two weeks.
