The dull period at the box office will be over as Tiger 3 is ready to set the box office on fire post Diwali. The advance oipened yesterday at many places and the response is excellent considering the first day is Diwali Puja where many circuits are well short of optimum. The three national chains stood at around 30k tickets at 1pm  which means its an easy 50k here at the end of the day.

The response on day one will generally be best in these national chains as the non nationals and singles have a more presence in areas which are hugely affected by Diwali Puja. It is possble these chains may reach around 3.5 lk just before release. The caveat is that due to this pre Diwali period it could be that the advance is slower on some days.

The main thing here with the start of advance it shows there is an urgency to watch the film and the film is sure to propel to huge numbers after the festivities are over. The idea today is to get the people to the cinema and here the trailer has done the job and even the song was a HIT irrespective of how the thinking is in the indsutry. The release is not on the best day but still its going to find a huge audience and in this situation the only thing that can stop the film from putting up huge numbers is the content not working with the public.

The film should have actually released on Friday as the film could have put up 100 crore nett or even more before the holiday period starts but these numbers would not have been as to expecations for the film due to the dull period and then the media may have put a certain spin to it as has been seen before and although this makes little difference there is fear of negativity especially as its such a big film. The next best option was Monday but then a Monday release in overseas is a problem. Overseas will have only one and a half days so there a lot will depend on the second weeeknd. Due to a shortened weeeknd there will be pent up demand with the Muslim audiences but then with Diwali on Sunday there will be a lesser Hindu crowd. Generally the first weekend is relying on the Muslim crowd as the only full day is Diwali day.

The Diwali period has an extra day with the big national holiday being on Tuesday and this comes once every 25 years and was last seen in 1999 with Hum Saath Saath Hain. At that tilme capacities were lower so its hard to tell if it was as good as the national holiday or less. The likelihood is that the national holiday will be the biggest day but with an extra holiday there could be some juice taken out of the national holiday. Overall the combined two day figure will be huge and then there will be Bhai Dooj on Wednesday..

Ther cricket world cup semi final and final will affect the film but as long the film is liked that will take care of itself though India in the final on its second Sunday will hit business hard and that too on a Sunday. Tiger 3 should start a great end to a good year with Animal, Dunki and Salaar to follow.
