Animal set the box office on fire as it recorded day one collections of around 52.50 crore in Hindi and a 10 crore nett plus total coming from regional versions for an all India total of 63 crore nett apprx. The Hindi numbers of the film are the third highest ever after Jawan and Pathan while in all languages only Jawan is higher at 72 crore nett.

The film has racked up crazy numbers in Nizam / Andhra not just in Hindi but in Telugu also and this is just not just Nizam / Andhra but in overseas also where the Telugu version has put extraordinary numbers and the sort which have never ever seen for a Hindi film dubbed into Telugu and basically because of this huge contribution from Telugu the film has gone over the 100 crore mark worldwide. The Hindi version also has huge numbers worldwide as overseas is also extraordinary.

The collections are also fantastic across all Hindi circuits as circuits like East Punjab, Rajasthan, CI and Bihar go above the numbers of Pathaan and Jawaan but it is less in the bigger circuits like Mumbai and Delhi / UP which keeps the overall number less. The numbers across mass circuits are huge for Ranbir Kapoor and far higher than all his other films. The opening day numbers in East Punjab, Rajasthan  and CI are double the number of Brahmastra.

The film picked up well in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Eastern India as numbers from all these areas have come in higher than expected.  The film does have an overdose of sex and violence which could eventually tell in the conservative parts of the country but that is compensated with a strong story like a 90's potboiler which appeals heavily to the mass audience and above all that it has momentum on its side.

Sam Bahadur had a pretty decent first day of 6 crore nett apprx with solid contributions in Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Bangalore though other big centres like Kolkata and Hyderabad were dull. The film needed heavier collections as the film has a healthy budget but if you consider the competition then 6 crore nett is a good number and the film is sure to show strong growth on day 2.
