Dunki has done well on day one with collections of around 28 crore nett which is less than the industry expected due to the presence of Shahrukh Khan but in reality the film was always going to find it hard to get over the 30 crore nett mark as there is a limited initial audience for films that do not look big in scale or are action orientated.

The film has managed good numbers in South with Mysore leading the way and if we take out films like Jawan, Animal and Pathaan then numbers in Mysore are actually excellent. There are circuits like Punjab, CI and Gujarat which are low while out of the Hindi circuits it is Delhi / UP which is best followed by Rajasthan.

The film could have done with better music and none of the songs have become a HIT before release but that is the norm with Rajkumar Hirani films. The best Rajkumar Hirani opener till date as been Sanju and there the hero iis different from his other films as there the hero tends to go more towards the comedic angke side which does hit initials whereas a more stronger personality holds more appeal with the wider audience. in this film Dunki the hero is also more towards the comedic side and today its even tougher compared to pre pandemic.

The number would be even better if there was no clash with Salaar but due to the clash the collections will have to come down to lower levels and then go on from there. The task for the film is now to be better than the first day either on Saturday and if not Sunday is a must and there is the Xmas period.  

The film has also scored well in Overseas with  A $425 coming in Australia which the third best opening ever in the country and other markets will also be good even and its very good period. The lower collections may well be Gulf as again like India the genre is not best there and Xmas period is not as strong as it is in West or Australia.
