Fighter has seen a decent first day at the box office of around 23 crore nett but this is well short of expectations for a film with Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone and directed by Siddharth Anand whose last film was Pathaan. The film should have done 30 crore nett at least and even that would be lower than the expectations from the industry mainly due to the numbers some films got.

On the other hand considering the start in the morning the film has done well to get over 20 crore nett as it got better momentum post the afternoon which was due to the big holiday today and now the film will have some momentum for the next three days as far as the big centres go.

The better collections of the film are in South and metros like Mumbai, NCR and Kolkata while mass pockets have not performed and ratios are far too less for an action film and its only Gujarat which is better than a social film like Dunki. Despite South having the better collections they are also short of Dunki levels.

The film should have been released on Friday so it could have benefited form the Republic Day holiday but that is easier to say post release when the required numbers have not come. The film is behaving like an urban action film and although today there is a big jump in mass circuits this jump is coming from low levels.

The film needs to average out 30-35 crore nett over the next three days which will give it a pretty good four day total but that wont be easy as it needs strong holds over the weekend.
