Godzilla x Kong has scored a very good first day with collections set to be around 14-15 crore nett driven by the South India circuits with will all have huge big totals and maybe even a 50% contribution from South India. The last Godzilla Kong film released in 2021 in the Covid19 period had collected 6.50 crore nett on day one and here the film is doing more than double.

The film will also be the biggest opener from Hollywood in India in 2023/24. Basically its the highest opener since Avtar - The Way Of Water beating the likes of Fast X and Mission Impossible 7 which did around 12 crore nett. It is a Good Friday release and top its lopsided to the South circuits so there will be a drop on Saturday and it remains to be seen where it settles on Saturday.

Crew has a sprung a surprise at the box office as far as the opening day is concerned as it collects in the 9-9.50 crore nett range which is a solid number even if you allow for the Good Friday holiday. The film has scored very well in metros and is fantastic in the Delhi NCR belt while even the mass circuits have respectable numbers be it Rajasthan or CI. 

The film will be one of the highest female led opening days at the box office and certain to be among the top three though Crew is holiday driven if we compare with the other films that are up there but many of the top female led openings are pre pandemic and its a different landscape today. actually its films like this which make it look like the landscape has not changed much as even on fair value its a 7 crore nett opening and that itself would be among the top ten female led openings.

Crew will have to maintain over the weekend as not only its a holiday start but also the costs of the film are pretty high for a film of its sort. The film has taken a superb opening in Overseas as well with the first numbers being around $170k from Australia. The film will get a huge boost overseas due to the Easter weekend and Kareena Kapoor is a box office star there bigger than many of the leading male stars..
