The big Eid period is coming with two big films and the industry has pinned hopes on these films after two poor Eids post the pandemic. The films will be releasing on Wednesday as the hope is Eid will fall on Wednesday which can work like a holiday although the national holiday is on Thursday. 

This was seen with Sultan in 2016 which got a huge response over the five day extended weekend. The advances of Maidaan opened yesterday outside the national chains and there has not been much of a response but there will not be much awareness either. This is a word of mouth type film and although its a bigger film than the likes of Drishyam 2 and Shaitaan it is not driven by family sentiments.

The national chains will open together for both of the Eid films when the programming is sorted out. The pressure will be on Bade Miyan Chotte Miyan to open as that is an action fare. The film has had a long campaign but it was only the trailer which made an impact released a week or so back. It reminds of Salaar where only the last unit made some sort of impact. 

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is more of a Eid type of film than Maidaan but it is also Hollywood type of action which has found the it tough going in mass pockets post pandemic. Here the story has to be strong to relate with the core mass audience as the action is there in the film.
