Srikanth is the first main release post the Eid releases and its taken a decent sort of opening. Decent may not be the right word to use but with the industry feeling the heat post Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan the numbers of Srikanth will actually look good to many if it gets to that 2 crore nett mark. There is a good chance this can happen with the evening push which should be there.

At the beginning of the year a Merry Christmas opened to 2 crore nett but that did not look good but as the scenario within the industry is at the lowest of lows at present and its a dull period with not much hope for the releases in this period then a 2 crore nett plus opening day of a film like Srtikanth will look pretty good.

The lack of releases will be helping the film a little as well because content has just dried up over the last few weeks and this is the first significant new release post Eid. Whatever has given this film some traction its all a positive but as usual its about what happens after the first day for these films. The numbers will look better post the Eid releases but in the overall context they will still leave the film with a lot of work to do over the weekend if it is to go anywhere.

The Hollywood release Kingdom Of the Planet Of the Apes should have opened better. The opening is a little better than Srikanth due to South India and Srikanth is hardly a morning film whereas Apes has something for the first show audience being about creatures.. Srikanth should do better through the day.
