The first major release after the dull period post Eid Chandu Champion is seeing low advances although the way Munjya is racking up numbers since Friday it is probably not right to say first major film. The advances are not such a surprise as the trailer of the film had the same problem that fhe majority of films have that it was very niche. It has some scale and there has been money spent but that alone holds little appeal for the youth and mass which forms the initial audience.
Then post trailer there were poor songs which means you could pretty rule out initial business in the circuits leaving it at the mercy of a few cities. The advances being low are no surprise especially when you open so early for a film which should be opening advances on Wednesday or maybe even Thursday as the audience is very limited and one or two days is enough.
The hope now is probably there is some sort of momentum on the last day of advance or the the film has some liking among the metro audience on day one otherwise there will be more shockwaves around the industry on Friday like there were before this dull period which should not be the case now as with films like this there should be much expected anyway.
The zone of the film is similar to Maidaan although this is a different period and a different sport. Business is a huge struggle without some support from the circuits and that was the problem with Maidaan. Even the smaller films need numbers from the circuits rather than just metros to get somewhere today. Also Munjya may give big competition in the circuits due to its acceptance which should not really make a difference but when a film has a limited audience then everything makes a difference.
