Kill had a poor first weekend of around 6 crore nett which is probably par for the course but what happens is these pre release reports start coming that the film is good and on top its a big banner so the industry starts to expect the film will collect also. The box office is a different kettle of fish as its about the word of mouth of the public and not media and industry reports.
Eventually the box office will decide what is good and what is bad and the problem with Kill is you are catering for such a limited audience and on top its tough to get people to theatres anyway today so collections are bound to be limited. The opening basically killed the film as the trend is not too bad taking into account that its an action or violent thriller film but you just cant open so low for this genre
The film is pretty much on the lines of Chandu Champion as gets praise in Mumbai film circles be it industry and media but the audience does not really care. The film now needs a Monday similar to Friday and that is just to get some sort of respectable lifetime number let alone success. The box office numbers of Kill over its first weekend are as follows.
Friday - 1,30,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 2,65,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 5,95,00,000 apprx
