Bad Newz has opened well and will be a relief to the industry as after a long time an original Hindi film has taken some sort of opening. The film is a rom com which is the bread and butter zone for the industry so its important this does well as it gives some confidence especially as there are hardly an film makers in the industry to make the bigger mass films so its imperative that films in this zone work.

The opening of the film is mainly down to the fun element the trailer showed and one HIT song. Again the film shows the importance of music in terms of films taking openings. The likely comparions of the film are going to be Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Ulja Jiya and Crew though in mass the film is likely to be less than the former due to less of a a family audience. But youth is more which means a better  opening than Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.

The momentum is on the side of the film also has advances were good on the final day after a middling response over the first few days. The film ran up almost 65% of its advances on the final day. It is likely the film will be heavily driven by the bigger chains due to the urban feel of the film. 

The opening day should be targeting an opening of over 7 crore nett which is a good number for the film and a good platform to succeed if the public reports are on side. The biggest opening till date for a Vicky Kaushal starrer is Uri - The Surgical Strike at 8.50 crore nett while the next best is Raazi at 7.25 crore nett and Bad Newz has a good chance to beat the Raazi number.
