Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa opened poorly and with both films having neck to neck collections in the opening shows at an all India level. Khel Khel Mein is better in the NCR belt while Vedaa sees better collections in the likes of Gujarat and CP Berar. The advances were better for Khel Khel Mein at most of the chains but Vedaa probably holds more appeal in the Hindi circuits and is probably closing the gap with the on the day crowd.

Considering the box office climate today if these collections were coming on a normal day then it would actually not be that bad for either film but its Independence Day which is a huge day for box office collections and because of that you really need double digit numbers and going by morning numbers that just looks a bridge too far.

Last year OMG 2 managed to get close to 10 crore nett despite coming up against Gadar 2 and it was not a holiday and the space is there for both films to get double digits even with Stree 2 there but something is missing from the fims to get the public interested initially. The trailers of both films were actually not too bad with Khel Khel Mein being an Akshay Kumar film after a long time which offered some entertainment though maybe a bit more for the gentry as subject matter would hold little interest in Hindi circuits.

Vedaa was also pretty decent but here it probably a song was needed but at the end of the day the films have suffered due to the clash as today films can do business outside holiday weeks due to such limited  competition so best to space out which can easily be doen as so few films. Here both films have been thrown to the gallows against Stree 2 as with films opening so low the big holiday offered a better day one but a film needs more than just one day. Now because of the craze of Stree 2 that opening day will not come also and it remains to be seen where the films go.
