Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video beat Jigra by around 4 crore nett mainly due to support from the Hindi speaking belts. Jigra was actually better in Mumbai and South but most of the other areas were way better for Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Jigra also managed to score better in Kolkata but overall Eastern India was still better for Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video..

The killer for Jigra was the NCR belt as this meant it became more of a four city film (Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Kolkatta) with the other one Delhi city showing  huge underperformance. There is not much chance for a film like Jigra when centres like Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon are lower than Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Gurgaon is a shocker considering its practically a total high end centre.

The shape of the box office still remains the same as it was around 50 years back as Mumbai and South show outperformance for the urban films. In 1975 there were blockbusters like Deewaar and Sanyasi and it was the same then when the more urban Deewaar scored better in Mumbai and South while Sanyasi was ahead in the rest of the country. The only difference then was probably that at that time even Kolkata was on the side of the more commercial film which is not the case now as those huge multiplexes in the city make a big difference.  The first week circuit figures of Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video are as follows
